Me and a mate are thinking of either buying a cheap small car and travelling across europe whilst camping or buying a van and travelling in that and setting it up so we can sleep in it. Any suggestions would be much appreciated . Also good places to visit!
I’m planning on taking a few years to travel the United States. This means I’ll be able to spend extended periods in each location, utilzing RV parks (or country roads or parking lots). I won’t be doing this right away. I’m at the exact beginning of this adventure. I can’t even call it the planning stage, yet. I’m working up to the planning stage.
I’m going to need to purchase a reliable van, built for luxury. I’m not talking about a huge RV. I’m talking about a large van. I need something with a bed and closet space. I’d like a chair in the back with a table. A TV/DVD player would be really nice. A bike rack. I’m not sure what else I’ll need. Since I’ll be camping, in essence, I think I should have a rechargeable power supply, something I can use at night without depleting my main battery. I’ll need power sockets for a laptop.
This Yahoo question is asking for advice. Do you know a good MAKE/MODEL van? Do you have a useful URL I can check out? It would be very helpful if your recommendation is based in personal experience.
I tend to ask hefty questions on this website. Thank you in advance for going to the trouble to answer.

I’m planning a year long trip around Europe, (maybe in 2 years time) by driving/camping around in van!! I did a quick look at the price of vans and found to price between 5 to 7 thousand pounds (second hand). I have a few questions:
-would it matter if the van is a left or right hand drive?
-what make (or even better, model) would be roadworthy for such a long trip, and through varying temperatures? (worried about the cold here)
-i’m familiar with the bare basics of car maintenance. Is there any insurance cover i can seek?
-how rampant is theft in Europe? Should I be worried?
-which countries are “camper friendly” and which aren’t?
