A family was about ready to leave on their camping trip. They loaded up their van with stuff, but it was getting really full with all kinds of equipment, plus five dogs. (Everyone had his or her own dog.) They were trying to decide whether to take the luggage rack for the top of the van to store some of their camping gear, or wheter they should just cram it all inside the van. Papa didn’t want to take the luggage rack because he said their gas mileage would be worse because of the increased drag. Mama said she didn’t want to be crowded inside the van, and she didn’t care how much it cost, she wanted to take it. Papa said they got 20 miles per gallon with the luggage rack off, and 17 miles per gallon with it on. Their destination was 3 hours away at 55 miles per hour with the rack off, but with the rack on they could only go 50 miles per hour. Gas cost $1.89 per gallon. How much more would it cost them to take the luggage rack, and how many extra minutes would it take them to get there?

I’m writing this to email my old English teacher.
Hi Sir, How are you? How has your holiday been? It was good to meet you when I turned up in the summer. Apparently the school has been shut due to the overwhelming flood in Bangkok. So now you’ve got ur holiday lengthened then. Good for you, isn’t it? I’m sure the whole country now struggles with this disaster. I hope things will get better as time flies by, with the water receding to the sea at some point. By the way, I was really impressed with seeing the pictures of me when I won the writing contest ages ago on your facebook.
I can’t remember anything in school at the time. I can’t even remember what I wrote. All the same, Thank you so much for reminding me of my past achievement.
I am on halfterm holidays this week. I haven’t been up to much other than drinking so much while camping in a camper van with my English friends around the English countryside of Suffolk. This is what Britons like to do apart from clubbing. haha. I have to crack on with a sheer amount of prep over the holidays now as I’ve got school next week.
Have a good one sir !

My friends and I are planning a road trip through California next summer. We’re having an issue however of where we will be staying each night. My one friend is super cheap and wants to camp every night and constantly gets agitated by the fact that we would be staying in hotels (I planned a 7 night trip in which 4 nights would be camping and 3 nights in motels). She insists that we use her huge van (Ford ’77) that she says runs better than any new car –in other words, we shouldnt rent a car because its too expensive (her van has no air conditioning and no stereo–were traveling in June). She says shes never booked a motel in advance (didnt realize that you sort of have to do this) and thinks Im lying when I say you can’t have more than 4 people in a motel room (as in the extra fees apply). In terms of camping as well, she wants the cheapest of the cheap (buying only rice and beans and cereal in bulk–really roughing it) and calls us pathetic when we say we aren’t accustomed to camping so rigorously.
Is there any way we can reach a middle ground? I like to camp, and I dont mind tenting for 2 or 3 nights, but if Im going to be touring san Francisco, I’d really like to have a shower before hand
Heres where we will be each night
1. Sacramento (found a place she actually might be okay with since its a BandB and itll take all 6 of us for 100$)
2. Tahoe (I found a nice middle ground campsite, but she didnt like that it was 36 a night)
3. Tahoe again same place
4. A hotel in the san fran area (san rafael, novato, etc–im having issues finding it cheap)
5. Camping in Big Sur OR Hotel (everyone wants a hotel but I said if we cant do the hotel we should camp)
6. Another night camping in Big Sur
7. Hotel in Solvang
Is there anyway to get good discounts on hotels (ive been to hotels.com) or to get deals on stuff? I want this road trip to be fun for everyone, while also maybe taking some people out of their comfort zones (make people rough it a bit, or make my other friend loosen up and pay another $20 for a nice bed!)
Any suggestions with my dilemma?

Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl consists of diary entries written by a Jewish teenager named Anne Frank. Anne Frank is comfortably living with her mother, father, and sister in Amsterdam when the Nazis start taking Jews to concentration camps. The Frank family is forced to flee from their home and live in the building where Anne’s father worked with another Jewish family by the name of Van Daan and an old dentist named Dussel. The eight Jews hide in these quarters, called the “Secret Annexe”, for two years. In her diary, Anne Frank encounters the difficulties of becoming an adult, the progress of World War II, and the philosophy that men should be valiant and happy no matter what.
The book is amazing. I particularly suggest teenagers and other Jews to read this book, for teenagers will relate to Anne’s experiences as you ages in the book from thirteen to fifteen years old, and Jews will be again reminded what happened during this time and what we should learn from it.
Sorry in the last sentence I mean she not you. typo

Looking for yummy simple bean recipes. (Already have a great chili recipe, also have a great lima bean & ham recipe so I don’t need those.) Do NOT want any sugar, sweeteners, peppers such as green, yellow, jalapeno etc. added to beans. A little meat is OK but not much.
If someone know how to make pork & beans from scratch to taste like Van Camps that would also be great. Thanks!

Would it be good if it was a summary on the back of a book?

Hi
We are going on a camping trip in may – have you any ideas for evening meals?
We are going for 5 nights and stopping at a different campsite each night (driving – so it doesn’t need to be light) and staying in small tent
We have an electric cool box in the back of the van so we can keep stuff fresh.
We have a 1 ring gas stove
Thanks
