Hi all, just a quick question…we got home from 4 wonderful days of camping yesterday afternoon. We parked in front of the door so we could un-load…now, the RV won’t crank to start so I can go park it.
I was trying to boost it all morning and then I remembered I bought a battery tester last week and the battery charge is just fine (12.54). Now, last time I had this problem they installed a new battery isolator between the front and the back as well as a new alternator. When I turn the key nothing, no click…nothing. I have a battery switch installed but when I test that the charge is getting past the switch, no problems, the power goes through.
I would be appreciative to get some ideas as to what my problem could be? Where do I check to see if power is getting to where it needs to go? Thanks ahead of time for your input.
I have a 1980 Dodge Country Camper Class C motorhome and I believe the converter is out on it. The frig, and lights work on the battery but not when we plug the RV in to the elec. at campsites. They run fine til the battery runs dead. The electrical outlets don’t work on the battery or the elec at the campground. We think the converter is bad but I have no idea where to find the converter or what it looks like. Anyone know? Thanks
frig is 3-way. frig works great off the battery, but the generator is not working so it runs the battery down. We have fuses & breakers in the breaker box. We replaced the fuse that runs the frig & that didn’t help. There are 4 breakers & 6 fuses. The breakers are on. Could the big black cord be bad? It is frayed. When we plug it in,nothing happens. Is there a way with an electrical meter to check if the breakers are working? We filled the propane & couldn’t get anything in the RV that runs on propane to go on & then all the propane came rushing back out the valve you fill at so we have to get a new fill valve. We will do that & try again. We only have 1 propane tank. I couldn’t smell any leaks inside the RV so I don’t know why the propane wasn’t working in the stove/oven. It only leaked outside the RV. We would like to use the water heater & debated putting in an elec. instant heat for hot water. It’s nice to be able to take a shower in there.
I bought it about 10 months ago and drove over 2000 miles with it so far. It drives really nice for it’s age and I have no problem with it. Recently I checked my motor and trans oil and they were leveled at full but the trans oil is a dark color and has a very light burned smell. I can’t remember if it was like that when I bought it. I asked a few and they tell me the trans oil is suppose to be red which mine is far from that color.
A trans oil change is a little expensive but I am willing to change it if it will help out save the van for a few more years. The only thing I spoke with my neighbor’s dad and he said sometimes putting in new oil in can actually ruin the trans because the gears could start slipping…
Any advice here would be amazingly appreciated… I am about to do some fun camping with her, should be a good time
I am going camping reluctantly for 2 days and its hot. I want to run a converter with a fan plugged in to keep my tent a few degrees cooler. I think it wouldnt be a good idea to run the A/C with it just ideling but Im really not sure about this either. Thanks in advance
Thinking of doing something wild and crazy taking my old Dodge Van I use for 4hr road trips that I use for camping…….
Thinking about going on a LONG road-trip…..From CA- Oregon, to Idaho, and thru Nevada, back to CA.
How many miles to the gallon do you get in your Dodge Van?
My van has a queen size bed, porta potty, curtains, and a/c, everything thing i need, and never have to unpack.
So— should i do it in the VAN??? or rely on the Luxury car and do hotels? I’m looking for a thrill, and think this will be fun for the spouse and dog and me. It’s my idea, so i’m not allowed to complain!
How many miles to the gallon.
Pros and cons welcome.
thanks for your help and ideas.
Kindness and experienced road trippers please.
