What is the best van for me to buy?

Posted: June 27th, 2011 | Author: | Filed under: Q & A | Tags: | 3 Comments »

I’ve always loved vans and am now looking into buying one. Thing is I don’t know the first thing about vehicles let alone vans. I am looking for something that will be easy for me to work on myself and not have to take to a professional. It has to be roomy since I plan to take it with when camping and traveling. Alright gas mileage is a plus though I do know vans are gas hogs. I’d really love something from the 70s but would be willing to sacrifice that. Also, like I said, this will be for traveling so I’ll be majorly redoing the inside. Nothing like adding a sink but I will want to be able to sleep in it if I have to. Though this will be my everyday vehicle as well. Currently there is no set budget since this probably wont happen until next year but if there is a really great suggestion that will end up costing a lot I’m still willing to wait. So, any suggestions?

I am going AZ – CA for a weekend trip (hiking and camping) so basically 5+5 hour up and down. We are six people and enterprise seems the best option. But is the most economical way – a van or two cars or something else ?

What is the best route to drive from Edmonton Ab Canada to Disneyland?

Posted: May 3rd, 2011 | Author: | Filed under: Q & A | Tags: , , , , , , | 1 Comment »

We are leaving for summer holidays on July 1st and are driving from Edmonton to Disneyland. There will be 7 of us and we are travelling in our Motorhome. I have looked at alot of KOA campgrounds along the way and are not even sure if we should spend that kind of money at a campground if we are only going to be stopping to sleep. It takes 27 hrs to travel to Disneyland from Edmonton. At first I was thinking that travelling 7-8 hrs a day was good enough, but we really do want to get there and we can take our time coming back home. If we drive 10hrs for the first 2 days and then 7 on the last day we should be there on Sunday July 3rd. The route that I was looking at originally was: Edmonton to Great Falls MT, Great Falls to Salt Lake City, Salt Lake City to Las Vegas and then Las Vegas to Anaheim CA. This would mean that we would have to stay at 3 different campgrounds and we wouldn’t be in California till Monday July 4th. Can someone please help me out with the most reasonable, safe (and fast at the same time) route. I was also looking at us travelling to Spokane Washington, but didn’t know if that made sense. That would give us the option of travelling along the West Coast through San Francisco. Please give me some ideas and also if you know of some good campgrounds that will allow RV’s/Motorhomes.
