Kaiteriteri, Mapua, Golden Bay or even Farewell Spit/Abel Tasman Park if you go that far. Google Nelson Camping grounds. They are all VERY popular over Christmas and most of summer, so don’t be surprised if you find you can’t get in. Check out the DOC website as well for advice, and the AA. Have a nice journey; it’s a beautiful region.

Right in Nelson http://nelsonnz.com is Tahuna Holiday Park – it’s the most popular and right next to the beach..
    http://www.tahunabeachholidaypark.co.nz Book early.

Kaiteriteri Beach Motor Camp is very nice – golden sand beaches. http://www.kaiteriteribeach.co.nz – In a campavan it will be about an hour drive from Nelson. A 10 min drive from there over a small hill is Marahau. This is the gateway to Abel Tasman National Park. http://www.abeltasman.co.nz – You can jump in a kayak and have a great time, or walk the track a little… or walk one way and take a water taxi back. Unbelievable scenery here!

Mapua has a nudey holiday park, sorry ‘leisure park’ or ‘clothes optional’ http://www.nelsonholiday.co.nz

Golden Bay, http://www.goldenbay.net.nz/en/guide.html and the other side Marlborough.http://www.destination.co.nz/marlborough – everything is not far away if wanting a change of scenery.

For other top of the South Island Holiday Parks see http://www.jasons.com/New-Zealand/Nelson-Region/camping-holiday-parks/

    Enjoy your trip

Go straight to Abel Tasman you will not be disappointed. Stay at Kaiteriteri. They have a motor camp http://www.kaiteriteribeach.co.nz/. The beach was voted one of the top ten in the world by the Guardian newspaper in Britain.

You can get a water taxi or kayak to the national park. Well worth it. You can also stay in the park as part of a Kayak tour. http://www.abeltasman.co.nz/SeaKayaking/MultiDayTrips.aspx
