How risky would it be to buy this car?

I like camping vans. They’re nice and spacy, and fun to travel in.
My mom is concerned about me getting this though, even though I’d pay for it with my own money. She says that buying old cars is way more expensive than buying new cars because of all the repairs you’d have to go through.
The thing is, I love old cars, and I really want this. Would it be a bad idea to buy it? I hate shiny new cars…
My mom is NOT DUMB, and she’s not worried about me having sex in the back of a car. Grow up.
not that reisky
THAT CAR IS AWESOME!!! if i lived anywhere near baltimore i would buy it on the spot! i say go for it!!
thats rigth keep it old school…
consider the gas mileage….some of those old cars are very poor, especially camper vans.other than that…repairs are part of any car new or old…insurance is something to consider as well….but really if you want something…its all up to you!do what makes you happy, but moms heart is in the right place.
1st ill say go for it, looks clean, low miles, just be sure to test drive it lol. But shes probably worried about Attractive gal + van with room could = a place for sex.
i completely agree with you on the hating shiny cars and all but….
Your mum is dumb.
STORY TIME
i bought an $800 truck and my parents were mad at me because they had the same opinion as your mum, and they had a car picked out for me.
Their car: Honda civic (can it get any more UN-masculine?) for 7k
My truck (800), even after practically re-building it only cost a me a total of 5k
So i say go for it!, besides, older trucks/cars/vans are easier to find parts for.
It’s a good price for a Westphalia. I like the the drivetrain has been gone through, that would be a big concern. These vans are not cheap to fix. It is not easy to find parts for these, and Volkswagen pretends that they never built them. Parts that do exist are expensive. The engines are somewhat fragile and don’t tolerate abuse. Be aware that these are pretty slow, and you’ll be regularly blown off the road by newer vehicles. If you are driving into a headwind on a windy day, you may think you are pulling a house behind you. The vans themselves are built very solidly. The engine wiring and sensors have to be watched carefully, as these are odd fuel injection systems that don’t self-diagnose, and they don’t tolerate anything being wrong. The long cooling system runs are complex and difficult to fix if you get leaks. Interior condition is important and has a big effect on value.
Very risky.
